Church leader says gay pastor could be ‘a very dangerous person’

WASHINGTON—Church leader John W. Prestonwood says he is open to the possibility that a gay pastor will be found at a church in Westonwood, Florida, the Baptist Press reported.
Prestonwoods statement comes days after the Westonwood Baptist Church in Weston, Florida posted on Facebook that its pastor, James J. Barger, would be a “dangerous person” if caught.
Preston Woods statement comes as a new report indicates the Weston Baptist Church, which has about 7,500 members in Weston County, Florida.
Weston Baptist says that Barger is a pastor in the church and that it is investigating.
The Weston Baptist newspaper says Prestonwood has been pastor of Weston’s Weston Baptist church since 2011.
Weston is located about 40 miles north of Orlando, and Weston Baptist is about 100 miles west of Tampa.
Bagger, who was born in the state of Oklahoma, has been accused of being homophobic and anti-gay.
He is the former director of communications for the Weston-area chapter of the Southern Baptist Convention and pastor of the Weston Memorial Baptist Church.
