Eagle brook Church to Rebuild with $1 Billion

The Eagle Brook Church of America has announced it plans to buy a $1 billion building on the site of the former Saddleback Church of the South, which was demolished in the 1970s and later replaced by a hotel and parking lot.
The Church will renovate the site and construct a chapel, a dining hall and a new meeting hall, the Church said in a news release Tuesday.
The Church plans to open the new building in 2020.
The Saddlebacks are a landmark in the Southeast’s history and the church was founded in 1870 by a Baptist minister.
Eagle Brook’s plans for the SaddleBACK site have not been announced, but it’s been in the works for years.
In 2018, the church said it had been approached by an unnamed developer and was exploring opportunities to acquire the land.
In the past, Eagle Brooks had planned to renovate and develop the site.
In 2015, it opened a $600 million campus in St. Augustine, Florida, to attract students from around the world.
For decades, Eagle’s leaders and members have struggled with the loss of their church.
In 2013, the Baptist Church of South Carolina said it would shutter its St. James Mission in a plan that also was announced that year by Eagle Brookes.
