How to Make the Best Cornbread at Cornerstone Church
A family of five and their three dogs have made a tradition of making Cornbread from scratch, all at Cornerstones restaurant.
The family has been making the Cornbread on the go for nearly two years, starting with their home kitchen.
“We wanted to get the recipes out of the way so we could do them ourselves and let the family help us,” says Michelle Martin, a chef and owner of Cornerstones.
“We all have our own styles, so we all just came up with a few.”
The family made a cornbread sandwich and the family of three are now making a full meal of Cornbread with homemade gravy, bread, and cheese.
“It’s really easy to make, there’s nothing like making a Cornbread sandwich,” Martin says.
The Cornbread is a popular breakfast and lunch meal at Corners restaurants.
They use all-natural ingredients such as corn, sunflower seeds, dried cranberries, and oats, as well as their own cornmeal.
Cornbread is served with an apple cider vinegar dipping sauce.
The recipe calls for 2 cups of whole-wheat flour and 2 teaspoons of baking powder.
Martin and her husband, Kevin, also a chef, decided to include a sprinkling of sea salt, a few drops of black pepper, and a few cloves of garlic to make the recipe more savory.
The sandwich comes together in under an hour, and it is perfect for kids and couples to share.
Martin says the kids love the Cornie Sandwich and the adults will love to see them make it too.
