How to build an immersive Minecraft church
When it comes to creating immersive environments, the Church of the Latter Day Saints has always been at the forefront of immersion technology.
In 2015, the LDS Church partnered with Oculus VR to develop an immersion experience for Minecraft, giving players a chance to explore the vast, arid Mojave desert.
The experience was a huge hit, and in 2017, the company signed a deal with Sony to develop Minecraft-themed Minecraft VR experiences.
With a focus on immersive storytelling, the new Minecraft VR experience is part of a larger partnership between the LDS church and Sony Pictures Entertainment.
Minecraft VR was released on March 21, 2018, and is set to become the most immersive VR experience for virtual reality.
As you might expect, Minecraft VR offers players a unique experience with Minecraft and a host of its various inhabitants, including creatures, plants, animals, and even Minecraft characters.
Minecraft characters can be used in Minecraft games and in other media, and they can even be brought into your living room to interact with the game world.
While Minecraft VR is a new experience, it was created by a group of experienced Minecraft creators, led by John J. Bishop.
Bishop’s Minecraft team is composed of seven members.
Each member has extensive Minecraft experience and has been a professional programmer for over a decade.
Bishop has previously created games like Minecraft: Story Mode, a free-to-play, competitive-themed survival game for iOS and Android, and a game for the PlayStation VR headset.
In this video from the Church, we see how Minecraft VR has evolved since the first version.
We’ll soon have more to share about the Church’s Minecraft VR project.
