When it rains, church fires a rocket to hit the devil
A local church in New York City has fired a rocket into the air to hit a devil statue, a source told The Post.
The incident took place Sunday evening in the West Village neighborhood of New York’s West Village.
A large crowd gathered around the statue of Saint Anthony the Great and was chanting in protest, according to the Daily News.
The crowd was told to move back.
Some of the protesters then threw water balloons at the statue, which bounced back and hit the ground.
As the crowds dispersed, the statue continued to burn and was left burning for a second time, but the crowd did not disperse, according a source familiar with the event.
The church’s president said the statue was “under attack” by the crowd and the mayor was “taking care of the situation.”
The statue was destroyed, but a large amount of damage was done to the statue itself, according the source.
